1980 58 Hatteras Motor Yacht Sanctuary

RIP Sanctuary

Sadly,  Sanctuary, our 58 Hatteras Motoryacht was badly damaged by Hurricane Irma.  She put up a good fight as all Hatts do.  Her port side took the brunt of the damage as she destroyed the finger pier during the storm.  Her swim platform was heavily damaged as well, either from piling contact or contact with a boat that snuck in next to her at the last minute to user her high profile as a shield.

She was well insured at $250,000, but it just wasn’t enough to bring her back professionally, and she was declared a total loss by the insurance company.  We hope the buyer of the salvage can bring her back to her glory and that someone new will make memories with her once again.

Sanctuary is well known in the Hatteras community.  Over the years, the Hatteras Owners Forum and it’s members have become family and we’ve received a lot of help and support from them.  Many have asked about the damage she received, so I decided to build this page.   I hope whomever purchases her has her surveyed by a strong marine surveyor.  If a potential purchaser happens to stumble upon this post, we do have a post-storm survey that we commissioned.  We will sell a potential buyer a copy at a reasonable cost, just to help recover some the cost of it.

There is also a good discussion here:  Sam’s Marine Hatteras Forum

Below is a gallery of the damage for anyone that is interested.  The images are large so they can be blown up
